[edit]Background

In 2005, band leader Brian J formed The Pimps of Joytime with vocalists Chauncey Yearwood and Mayteana Morales (who played Gaby in the television show Ghostwriter). Since then the band has had a rotating cast of drummers and bassists, but these three core members have remained.

The Pimps are notable for their genre blending style and relentless touring.[3] They incorporate influences from such genres as afrobeat, Latin, reggae, and funk.[4] They have gained national recognition while touring the music festival circuit, performing at Bonnaroo, All Good, Mountain Jam, Outside Lands, Summer Camp, High Sierra, and others.

The Pimps have collaborated with:

  • Cyril and Art Neville of The Neville Brothers[5]

  • Roy Ayers

  • J Boogie

The Pimps of Joytime were interviewed on Art International Radio and The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show.[6][7]
