International Jakob Bro marks his debut in early 2000 when Bro plays in Paul Motian and the Electric Bebop Band and later becomes a permanent member of the Polish trumpeter Tomasz Stańko Tomasz Stańko and his Quintet [1]. Here, Bro is one of the key musicians on "Dark Eyes",.
Jakob Bro has distinguished himself in recent years, particularly in the Danish jazz scene. He has won five DMA Awards from his last seven releases. In 2003 as "New Jazzname of the year", "Jazz Album of the year 2006" + "This year's Danish cross-over release 2006" with the album "sidetracked". The album also received "Album of the Year" in Danish Jazz Special. New Yorker Jazz Journal All About Jazz called "Balladeering" "A true artwork that brings out the best in the players". Bro has also received attention from US media such as Jazztimes and Downbeat.
Praise carried over into Bro's 2011 album Time, which took a more minimal approach in both sound and production and added the talents of American bass player Thomas Morgan to the lineup along with Konitz and Frisell. The album was recorded in a single day at Avatar Studios and released in late 2011. Danish media outlet Politiken called Time "masterpiece of Danish jazz history".
